Some years ago, GaiaZOO in Kerkrade contacted us to find a solution to a specific challenge.

They were looking for a new, sustainable way to keep their zoo looking attractive. GaiaZOO had used a lot of sprayed concrete on-site, but this hadn’t produced the result they were looking for. The search for an alternative material clearly led to natural stone, among other materials.

The collaboration between Boymans and GaiaZOO

Nowadays, there’s a huge demand for natural materials such as beautiful, majestic boulders. Thanks to our many years of experience and our large network of European quarries, we can supply the perfect natural stone for landscaping in amusement parks, zoos, parks, and gardens.

Het duurzame aspect van de samenwerking

One of the benefits of natural stone is its versatility: stone that was first part of a wall can be used years later to landscape an animal enclosure, for instance. Additionally, Jaap Bakker explains GaiaZOO’s frequent use of sustainable materials. The zoo widely uses oak and larch wood, both of which – like natural stone – are sustainable. If you’d like to see the different applications of natural stone, make sure to pay a visit to GaiaZOO.
